Affordable Living: An Adaptive Approach to Inclusive Housing & Transit-Oriented Growth

$39.99 USD

Affordable housing solutions often focus on immediate needs, while inadvertently contributing to community segregation, limiting long-term residency, and restricting economic mobility. Over the past two years, our research has explored a new paradigm—Affordable Living—as a dynamic, inclusive housing ecosystem that evolves alongside residents' needs. By benchmarking policies, conducting expert interviews, and developing a new Community Livability Index, we identified critical gaps in Miami’s housing landscape. Our approach integrates adaptable modular housing with transit-oriented development to create long-term, multi-generational stability. We propose strategies that redefine affordability and foster economically and socially resilient communities. This presentation introduces new tools, planning strategies, and architectural solutions that can be applied beyond Miami to shape the future of affordable housing.
